Text

The Text section adds headings and paragraphs to a page in a readable column. Use it for a short story about your store, delivery details on a landing page, or a description under the list of collections that helps customers and search engines understand your catalog.

Text section with the heading “About our catalog” and one paragraph of text below it, aligned left.

Where to find it: Theme editor → page → Add section → Text.

  1. Click Add section and choose Text. The section comes with a Heading block and a Text block.
  2. Click the Heading block, enter the heading and choose the Heading level.
  3. Click the Text block and write your text. Use the toolbar for bold, italic, links and lists.
  4. To add more, click Add block and choose Heading or Text. Drag blocks to change their order.
  5. Click Save.

The text is aligned left and limited to a comfortable reading width on wide screens.

Heading level sets how important the heading is in the page structure, which matters for search engines and screen readers. It also sets the size of the heading.

  • Heading 2: a main heading of the section. Use it for the first heading.
  • Heading 3 and Heading 4: smaller subheadings under it.

A template is shared by many pages, so a Text section added to the collection template shows the same text on every collection. To show different text on each one, connect the Text block to a metafield: click the Connect dynamic source icon next to the Text field and choose a rich text metafield of the collection or page. See Dynamic sources in the Shopify Help Center.
